Arab Finance: The Egyptian government penned memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Palestinian and Somalian governments to boost cooperation in the information and communications technology (ICT) and postal sectors, according to two statements by the Egyptian Cabinet on January 23rd.
The deals were signed by Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talaat with each of his Palestinian counterpart Ishaq Sidr and Somali counterpart Jama Hassan Khalif, in the presence of Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
Talaat said that MoU with the Palestinian government includes aspects of joint technical cooperation to strengthen policymaking and implementation for the communications, information technology, and postal sectors.
The deal also involves drawing up efficient cooperation mechanisms, and sharing relevant expertise and best practices that will enable both parties to perform their missions more efficiently and cut business costs.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian minister said that the MoU with Somalia includes capacity building, through the provision of specialized training programs by the Egyptian ICT ministry for the Somali side, such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, information security, and training programs in the fields of optical fibers, cybersecurity, and others.
