Cairo: Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone Egypt (VODE) Stefano Gastaut said that the company has not reached a final agreement with Telecom Egypt (ETEL)on interconnect and local roaming prices, adding that these issues are subject to discussions with Egypt’s National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA).
New prices of charging cards were necessary owing to high operating costs, and the increase decision was taken after discussions with the NTRA and the four mobile operators, he said.
He added that Vodafone will not put up a stake on the stock market again, noting that his firm is one of the most profitable companies in the Egyptian market and has the largest number of subscribers.
Gastaut said that 4G services represents a quantum leap in data transmission services in the Egyptian market compared with 3G services.
