Cairo: Vodafone is looking at investing in Egypt’s telecommunications infrastructure and extending optic fibre cables, chief executive of Vodafone Egypt said on Sunday.
Alexandre Froment-Curtil said the mobile network operator is negotiating with the Egyptian National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and state-run Telecom Egypt on taking part in telecommunications infrastructure investments in the country as well as extending optic fibre cables.
Egypt has great potential to accelerate its digital transformation, Curtil said, adding that the country is a key market on the parent group Vodafone’s investment map.
Vodafone Egypt spent around 10 billion Egyptian pounds ($567.8 million) on upgrading its network in the past two years to keep pace with demand for data services, Curtil said.
