COVID-19: Lecico Egypt’s factory closed on positive cases

ArabFinance: Lecico Egypt (LCSW) has temporarily closed Lecico for Ceramic Industries, one of its factories, after two cases were confirmed positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), according to an EGX statement.

Lecico confirmed with the Egyptian Ministry of Health on Aptil 12th that two of its workers in the sanitary ware factory have tested positive for COVID-19.

Located in Borg El Arab in Alexandria Governorate, this factory will be in full lockdown for two weeks,

Lecico has sent the entire staff home for self-isolation before returning to operations.

The company did not include further details about the two infected cases.

However, Lecico confirmed it will continue operations with best practice from a health and safety perspective in the case of future issues.

The company also noted that since the outbreak began, it has been committed to staying operational while implementing the best practices possible to limit the risk from the virus.

All other production sites remain in operation, Lecico said, noting that the closed subsidiary represents approximately 35% of the group’s sanitary ware production capacity.

Lecico anticipates minimal disruption of customer service from this shutdown given its stock levels, in addition to the slowing demand for products as a result of the Pandemic.

On April 2nd, Lecico announced that its subsidiary in Lebanon has sold two of the three plots offered in 2019 for $13.46 million.

It is worth noting that the health ministry announced 125 new COVID-19 positive cases on April 13th.
