IFC partners with Rameda for energy efficiency solutions

ArabFinance: International Financial Corporation (IFC), an affiliate of the World Bank Group, has partnered with Egypt’s Tenth of Ramadan for Pharmaceuticals Industries and Diagnostic Reagents (Rameda) (RMDA) to integrate green energy in its operations and improve the efficiency of its output, according to a statement on May 16th.

Under the partnership, IFC will aide Rameda in adoption of energy solutions that help the company cutting carbon emissions and rationalizing water consumption.

"As Rameda grows in size, scale, and reach, so does our resolve in ensuring that the company's business practices and growth trajectory are sustainable, and that it serves its patients in a manner that respects the environment, encourages social progress and contributes to long-term economic sustainability," Rameda's CEO Amr Morsy commented.

"Our partnership with Rameda is part of IFC's strategy to support Africa's health sector and to help the continent's businesses reduce their environmental footprint," IFC’s Country Manager – Egypt, Libya - Yasmine El-Hini said.

Cooperation with Rameda comes within the framework of IFC’s pharmaceutical project for North Africa which is implemented in Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia.

Rameda is an Egypt-based pharmaceutical company that manufactures both human and veterinary pharmaceuticals.

It operates three fully independent factories at its plant, including 20 production lines capable of producing a wide range of general medicinal forms, namely eye drops, solid dosage forms, syrups, blow-fill-seal, and lyophilized vials, among others.
