Arab Finance: The US-based consumer goods manufacturer Procter and Gamble (P&G) will open a new line for the production of liquid detergents in Egypt soon, according to an official statement by the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry on May 22nd.
The new line is set to be opened to meet the local demand for detergents and export them abroad, trade minister Nevine Gamea said during her meeting with the President and General Manager of Procter and Gamble for North Africa Samir Lebbar.
P&G is committed to boosting local manufacturing and Egyptian exports globally, especially to African markets, Lebbar said.
The company has been operating in Egypt for more than 30 years with total investments of over EGP 3.5 billion, he noted.
Lebbar also revealed that P&G offers 1,300 direct jobs and 10,000 support opportunities for the company's business in Egypt, adding that the company exports to 37 countries with a total value of up to $250 million annually.
