Qalaa Holdings' ACCM lays foundation stone of 7MW soler plant in El Minya

Arab Finance: ASOM Carbonate and Chemicals Manufacturing (ACCM), a subsidiary of Qalaa Holdings (CCAP), has laid the foundation stone of a new 7-megawatt-hour solar power plant in El Minya governorate, according to an emailed press release on October 26th.

On an area of 25 acres, the plant will be carried out by the energy and utility provider TAQA Arabia.

This project will assist ASCOM Carbonate in leveraging its position in the industrial field in Egypt, Managing Director of ACCM Ahmed Niazy said.

ACCM has succeeded in exporting its products to 45 ports across the globe, with a production capacity of 500,000 tons annually, Niazy added, noting that the company aims to produce calcium carbonate using green energy.

For her part, CEO of TAQA Arabia Pakinam Kafafi commented: “This project confirms on TAQA Arabia’s capability to provide the latest sustainable solutions to a large base of private sector companies such as ACCM.”

“The new plant will contribute to ACCM’s endeavors to maximize the opportunities of using renewable energy resources; reducing its electric power consumption by 16% of its total annual needs,” Kafafi explained.
