Cairo: Agriculture Minister Essam Fayed said on Friday 29/4/2016 that the Cabinet approved Egypt's joining of the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV).

The move was taken during the weekly Cabinet meeting under Prime Minister Sherif Ismai within the framework of the State's interest in the advancement of the agriculture sector to contribute to national economy and achieve comprehensive development and self-sufficiency.

Fayed said the move will allow for more agricultural investments, job opportunities and protecting local crops and increasing production for achieving self-sufficiency.
