Egypt

* Egypt reported 54 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total to 456. Full recoveries reached 95, while the death toll stood at 21.

* Ministry of Health and Population is asking the public for volunteers to help fight coronavirus (COVID-19).

* Construction companies are required to daily monitor their workers’ temperatures and provide them with masks and disinfectants. Ambulances will be required to remain on sites with more than 100 workers.

* The Financial Regulatory Authority has given MSMEs a six-month grace period to pay insurance premiums.

* The Finance Ministry has issued a decree obliging VAT registrants to file their taxes online.

* Ministry of Transport announced the new amended schedule of the Cairo metro.

* Saudi Arabia allows Egyptians stuck in the country to extend their visit visas.

* The EGX30 rose 0.97% on March 25th, gaining 95 points. The stock market regained around EGP 20 billion of its capital market losses over the past week.

* The government has allocated a total of EGP 3.8 billion to the health sector since March 1st.

* Finance Ministry earmarked EGP 70 million to the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

* Sadat City saw a total of 9,680 social housing units executed, while 6,100 additional units are currently underway.

* Sharqia governor imposed EGP 20,000 fine on businesses violating the 7 pm- 6 am curfew.

* Ministry of Transport will an additional two trains to ease packed commutes before the curfew.

* Ministry of Electricity turned down requests to postpone monthly bills payment.

 

GCC

* UAE has announced 85 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 333. Total recovered cases reached 52.

* The UAE announced a series of backup plans to the healthcare sector to ensure hospitals and medical centers are connected around the clock.

* Dubai Executive Council has issued circular to government entities to implement 100% remote work system as of March 29th.

* UAE will start a three-day national sterilization program will on March 26th to sanitize all public facilities, streets, public transportation and metro service.

* The UAE government have announced exemption of laborers whose work permits have expired from the medical tests. Work permits and residence visas will be renewed automatically.

* Saudi Arabia announced the second COVID-19 death, in addition to 133 new cases that brought its tally to 900 cases.

* Saudi Arabia barred travel in and out of Riyadh, the capital, and the holy cities of Mecca and Medina, as well as movement between all provinces.

* Kuwaiti announced six new recoveries from COVID-19, raising the total recoveries to 49.

* Bahrain announced 27 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of cases to 419. 

* Jordan will receive a $US1.3 billion extended fund facility from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

* Jordan has 19 new COVID-19 cases, resulting in a total of 172 infections.

* Lebanon reported 333 infections, with a death toll of four deaths.

 

Global

* Total confirmed cases worldwide have reached 471,802. Recovered cases reached 114,703, whereas death toll stands at 21,297 patients.

* The World Bank and the IMF have called on creditors of vulnerable countries to suspend debt payments.

* UN said protectionist measures by governments during the coronavirus crisis could provoke food shortages around the world.

* UK saw a drop in recorded crime, by as much as 20% in some areas, due to coronavirus.

* Spain’s death toll has surpassed that of China after recording 738 new deaths.

* Italy’s death toll from coronavirus has grown by 683 to 7,503.

* Canada imposed mandatory 14-day self-isolation for those returning to the country.

* The Russian government has ordered the civil aviation authority to suspend all regular and charter flights to and from Russia from March 27th.
