    COVID-19: Ministry provides 700 ventilators to hospitals

    ArabFinance: The Ministry of Health and Population provided 700 ventilators to the isolation and quarantine hospitals that treat COVID-19 patients, according to a June 30th statement.

    The health minister Hala Zayed said that 31 new computed tomography scanners were also delivered to the hospitals.

    Zayed noted that remdesivir medicine was used in treating some of the coronavirus patients, adding that additional batches will be provided in the coming period.

    Egyptian drug manufacturer Eva Pharma provided some hospitals with adequate quantities of the remdesivir medicine, which is needed for the cases showing intense symptoms, Ahram Online reported.

    The minister also referred to the government's plan to upgrade and enhance 38 fever and chest hospitals as part of the comprehensive health insurance system.

    Zayed added that the first phase of the system included 20 hospitals comprising 3,096 regular beds, 259 intensive care beds, and 151 ventilators.

    According to June 29th COVID-19 update in Egypt, a total of 66,754 infections were registered since the outbreak of the virus.
