Egypt launches phase II of PPP schools program

ArabFinance: The Egyptian Ministry of Education and Higher Education is launching on October 18th the second phase of the public-private partnership (PPP) program to build 1,000 schools under a 30-year agreement, according to a Cabinet statement.

The government will invite companies to bid for prequalification to build 98 language schools nationwide, mainly in the Nile Delta, Upper Egypt, and new urban communities like New Cairo, New Borg el Arab, New Damietta, and others, according to the statement.

The first phase included the establishment of 54 schools across 16 governorates, most of which started operating in the current academic year 2020/2021, the statement said.

Head of the Ministry of Finance’s PPP Unit Ater Hanoura recently said the government launched a tender for the second phase of the educational facilities of the PPP program.
