ArabFinance: Egypt registered an unemployment rate of 7.3% during the third quarter (Q3) of 2020, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) announced on November 15th.
The jobless level marked a 0.5% Year on Year decrease, the statistics agency added.
The July-September unemployment rate was 2.3% Month on Month lower than 9.6% in the April-June period, CAPMAS noted.
The state-run authority attributed the decline in the number of unemployed citizens to the return of daily activities, as well as the gradual lift of precautionary measures against COVID-19.
More than 28.17 million people were included in the workforce during the July-September period, CAPMAS added. This represented a 5.6% increase when compared to 26.68 million individuals working over the same quarter in 2019.
Egypt has decided to resume several activities nationwide as of September.
