6,281 projects applied for Egypt’s National Initiative for Green Smart Projects: El-Said

Arab Finance: The number of projects that applied for the National Initiative for Green Smart Projects reached 6,281 across all the governorates, Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala El-Said announced on September 20th.

The first stage of the initiative is successfully completed, El-Said pointed out, adding that the current stage involves the evaluation of projects from all governorates based on the set conditions and standards.

The governorate of Gharbia comes on top of all governorates in terms of the number of projects participating in the initiative with a total of 1,277 projects, she said.

Meanwhile, Cairo acquires the first place among governorates in terms of integrity of projects, the minister added.

For his part, Ambassador Hisham Badr, the general coordinator of the initiative, stressed that Egypt is having a database for smart green projects for the first time as the country now has all the information about such projects in each governorate.

A national conference will be held in Cairo where 162 projects that represent all governorates will compete, of which only 18 projects will be nominated and the winner will be announced eventually at the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27), Badr highlighted.
