Tourist arrivals in Egypt jump by 85.4% YoY in H1 2022

Arab Finance: Tourist arrivals in Egypt reached 4.9 million in the first half (H1) of 2022, rising by 85.4% from 2.6 million tourists in H1 2021, according to a press release by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on September 27th.

Meanwhile, the total number of tourists who visited Egypt in 2021 stood at 8 million, remarkably up by 117.5% from 3.8 million tourists in 2020.

Eastern Europe made up the lion’s share of tourist arrivals to the country in 2021 by 50.6%, followed by tourists from the Middle East, Western Europe, and Africa by 18.9%, 16.4%, and 7.1%, respectively.

The number of Arab tourists who traveled to Egypt in 2021 climbed by 114.9% year-on-year (YoY) to 2 million visitors.

Moreover, the total number of tourists’ nights spent in the North African country reached 52.6 million in H1 2022, up by 63.6% YoY from 32.2 million nights.

In 2021, total tourists’ nights spent in Egypt climbed by 118.3% to 93.8 million, compared to 43 million nights in 2020.
