EGX enters green zone, market cap. gains LE 6.13B

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended its downtrend resulted due to fears of the spreading of coronavirus , and entered the green zone during mid-week session, adding LE 6.13 billion to market capitalization, amid Egyptian buying.

The benchmark EGX 30 rose 1.05 percent, or 129.65 points, to close at 12,419.52 points.

The equally weighted index EGX 50 hiked 1.58 percent, or 26.13 points, to end at 1,679.66 points.

The small and mid-cap index EGX 70 increased 1.05 percent, or 11.83 points, to close at 1,137.9 points, and the broader index EGX 100 climbed 0.93 percent, or 11.51 points to 1,252.01 points.

Market capitalization gained LE 6.13 billion, recording LE 641.79 billion, compared to LE 635.66 billion in Monday’s session.

The trading volume reached 190.47 million shares, traded through 20,400 transactions, with a turnover of LE 659.47 million.

Egyptian investors were net buyers at LE 87.96 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers at LE 29.69 million, and LE 58.26 million, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab individuals were net sellers at LE 20.82 million, and LE 30.6 million, respectively, while foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 454,859.

Egyptian and Arab organizations bought at LE 108.78 million, and LE 907,832, respectively, while foreign organizations sold at LE 58.72 million.

Arabia Investments Holding, Natural Gas & Mining Project (Egypt Gas), and Ismailia Misr Poultry top gainers of the session at 8.81 percent, 7.98 percent and 7.51 percent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Sharkia National Food, Cairo Pharmaceuticals, and Gharbia Islamic Housing Development were top losers of the session by 9.48 percent, 6.57 percent, and 5.11 percent, respectively.

On Monday, EGX ended on mixed note, as EGX 30 rose 0.55 percent, and EGX 100 increased 0.06 percent, while EGX 50 dipped 0.11 percent, and EGX 70 lessened 0.55 percent. Source: Egypt Today
