EGX sees bearish trend on Monday

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Monday’s trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark EGX30 index slipped 0.55%, finishing the session at 10,122.32 points.  

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) fell 0.66% to 2,209.44 points.  

Meanwhile, the EGX100 index tumbled by 0.62% to 3,163.51 points, while the EGX50 EWI dropped by 0.80% to 1,916.66 points.  

Trading volume amounted to nearly 978.065 million shares exchanged through 67,993 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.581 billion.  

Market capitalization closed today’s trading session at EGP 688.708 billion.  

Retail investors controlled 83.95% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 16.04% of trading.  

Egyptian traders made up 91.28% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign (non-Arab) investors made up 4.6% and 4.12% respectively.  

Egyptian traders were net buyers with EGP 75.918 million, while Arab and foreign investors were net sellers with EGP 14.236 million and EGP 61.681 million, respectively.
