EGX ends Thursday in red

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Thursday’s trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark EGX30 index slipped 0.62%, finishing the session at 9,936.87 points.  

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) fell 1.63% to 2,165.39 points.  

Meanwhile, the EGX100 index dropped by 1.44% to 3,107.69 points, while the EGX50 EWI tumbled by 0.93% to 1,885.79 points.  

Trading volume amounted to nearly 676.97 million shares exchanged through 46,242 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.048 billion.  

Market capitalization closed today’s trading session at EGP 679.87 billion.  

Retail investors controlled 75.14% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 24.85% of trading.  

Egyptian traders made up 85.51% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign (non-Arab) investors made up 4.29% and 10.2% respectively.  

Foreign traders were net sellers with EGP 164.06 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net buyers with EGP 149.46 million and EGP 14.59 million, respectively.
