EGX ends in red on Wednesday

ArabFinance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices saw negative performance on Wednesday.

The benchmark EGX30 index shed 0.55%, finishing the session at 9,955.85 points.

The EGX50 EWI index by lost 0.25%, to stand at 1,895.47 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) declined by 0.43%, reaching 2,188.56 points, while the EGX100 shrank 0.57%, ending the session at 3,122.76 points.

Trading volume amounted nearly to 509.388 million shares exchanged through 43,310 transactions at a turnover of EGP 1.511 billion.

Market capitalization closed today’s trading session at EGP 686.821 billion.

Retail investors controlled 55.28% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 44.71% of trading.

Egyptian traders made up 66.17% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 6.71% and 27.12%, respectively.

Egyptian and Arab traders were net sellers with EGP 286.085 million and EGP 95.097 million, respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers with EGP 381.182 million.
