Indian businessman Adani becomes member of $100B club, joining Musk, Bezos

Indian tycoon Gautam Adani, founder of Adani Group, has joined on April 4th the elite billionaire club with wealth worth $100 billion or more, along with Tesla’s Elon Musk and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, CNN Business reported.

Adani became the world’s 10th richest man. He and French businessman Bernard Arnault are now the only non-Americans worth at least $100 billion.

The wealth of the 59-year-old Indian industrialist and philanthropist soared by around $90 billion over the last two years, on the back of the boom in stock markets during the covid-19 pandemic.

Some stocks of Adani companies skyrocketed over 1000% since June 2020, as investors maintained a positive outlook of the Indian tycoon’s ability to “bet on sectors such as infrastructure and renewable energy."

Adani Group’s subsidiaries work in various fields including ports, aerospace, thermal energy, and coal.
