Arab Finance: The Egyptian Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, approved extending the remote work system on Sundays throughout June, as per a statement.
This marks the third consecutive month of applying the work-from-home policy, which was first introduced last April as part of a government energy-saving plan to optimize consumption amid a surge in global oil prices resulting from the Israel-Iran war.
The decision was renewed for all employees in entities covered under the relevant decree throughout May 2026.
Geopolitical tension in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz led the government to implement several measures to maintain the energy sector’s stability.
Madbouly set new sale prices of natural gas supplied to certain industrial activities and the petrochemicals sector, which became effective on May 1st.
Last March, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources decided to raise fuel prices by around EGP 3 per liter.
