Egypt keeps petroleum product prices unchanged after quarterly review

Arab Finance: Egypt's Fuel Automatic Pricing Committee (FAPC) has kept prices unchanged after reviewing movements in the EGP’s exchange rate and Brent crude prices during the third quarter (Q3) of 2026, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

The decision, announced on October 15, followed a comparison of July–September figures with the preceding quarter. The committee also assessed global petroleum product price trends, domestic and international developments affecting the pricing formula, and pricing adjustments implemented in recent months.

The review came after the Cabinet directed the committee to resume its work and examine the factors governing the automatic pricing mechanism.

Earlier, on October 4, the ministry had rejected reports circulating on social media pages and websites about changes to petroleum product prices, saying the purported new prices were inaccurate and unsupported by any official decision.

At that time, the ministry confirmed that existing prices remained in effect and that the committee had neither convened nor issued any decisions or recommendations on price adjustments. It said the absence of a meeting invalidated claims about new prices or specific percentage increases.

The ministry stressed that any pricing decisions or updates would be announced through its official channels and the relevant authorities. Referring to its September 24, 2026, statement denying similar reports, it renewed its call for the public to disregard unverified information and figures circulating on social media.

Separately, the ministry denied reports of butane gas cylinder shortages in some governorates, confirming that the supply system was operating normally and consistently.
