EGX sees bearish trend on Thuesday

Arab Finance: The Egyptian Exchange’s (EGX) indices closed Thursday’s trading session in the red zone, with market capitalization at EGP 3.936 billion.

The benchmark EGX30 index lost 0.35%, to close at 53,442.2 points.

The small- and mid-cap EGX70 equal-weight index (EWI) was down by 1.03% at 18,233.32 points, while the EGX100 index shed 0.91%, ending the session at 24,035.88 points.

The Sharia-compliant index, EGX33 Shariah index, dropped by 0.73%, closing the session at 60,12.67 points. The EGX35-LV plunged 0.85% to 6,315.14 points.

Today’s trading saw 2.635 billion shares exchanged over 260.580 transactions, generating a turnover of EGP 11.915 billion.

Retail investors seized 81.72% of total trading transactions, while institutional investors made up 18.27% of trading.

Egyptian traders constituted 92.43% of total trading transactions, while Arab and foreign investors accounted for 2.1% and 5.46%, respectively.

Arab and foreign traders were net buyers with EGP 45.452 million and EGP 230.210 million, respectively. Egyptian investors were net sellers with EGP 275.662 million.
