Telecom Egypt, Zain Omantel International to build digital corridor

Arab Finance: Telecom Egypt has penned a partnership with Zain Omantel International (ZOI) to build a digital corridor linking the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Sea, and the Arabian Gulf region, as per a statement.

It is poised to be an unprecedented data highway between the continents of Asia and Europe.

The digital corridor’s infrastructure will extend from the coast of Oman to the Mediterranean coast of Egypt using a large number of optical fibers.

There will also be a direct link between Saudi Arabia and Egypt via a submarine cable through the Red Sea, characterized by high capacities.

Moreover, ZOI's network and cooperation with licensed cable landing parties in Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, and Jordan will contribute to extending the infrastructure into these areas.
