Petroleum Ministry inspects fuel quality after 870 complaints; 5 samples below standards

Arab Finance: Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced the results of tests conducted nationwide after receiving 870 complaints from citizens regarding the quality of fuel in the local market during the period from May 4th to 9th, according to a statement.

Teams from the ministry, as well as independent specialist companies, analyzed 807 samples of fuel from various governorates. The tests proved that 802 samples met the Egyptian standard specifications, while five did not.

The ministry rolled out additional measures for local gasoline, asserting that refineries shall not release any product for consumption until analyzing samples in two different laboratories instead of one.

As for imported gasoline, samples shall be taken under the supervision of neutral companies and analyzed in three different laboratories to ensure the accuracy of the results.

Regarding the supply chain, tests shall be conducted before and after the product is shipped to ensure quality throughout the entire supply chain, and neutral companies will be assigned to implement the tests.

The minister decided to disburse an amount equal to the value of the approved invoice for replacing the fuel pump, at a maximum of EGP 2,000, to citizens who submitted a complaint via the hotline (16528) or the government complaints system website.

Required documents include a certified invoice proving the vehicle's pump replacement and ownership papers of the vehicle, and the complaint must have been submitted between May 4th and 10th, 2025.
