Arab Finance: The private equity firm AfricInvest is seeking to acquire up to 25% of the British University in Egypt’s (BUE) shares for over EGP 1 billion, Asharq Business reported on April 11th, citing three unnamed sources familiar with the matter.
The size of the share to be purchased may increase if the Egyptian pound fell against the US dollar again, as the deal will be settled in USD, one of the sources said.
The potential investment in BUE would mark the first by AfricInvest in the Egyptian education sector.
Located in El-Shorouk City, the BUE was established in 2005 as per an agreement between the governments of Egypt and UK and started its operations in 2006.
