NTRA announces compensation for internet users affected by Ramses Central fire

Arab Finance: The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has approved additional compensation for affected prepaid fixed internet users following the Ramses Central fire, according to a statement.

As part of NTRA's efforts to mitigate the impact of the fire and ensure the protection of users’ rights, the prepaid fixed internet customers will receive an additional data bundle, equaling 50% of their basic package.

Meanwhile, the postpaid customers will receive a 30% discount on their monthly bills to compensate for the period of service disruption.

The authority affirms its continued monitoring of the quality of services provided to users and its ongoing coordination with telecom companies to ensure the continuity of services and the prevention of such disruptions.

The fire, which broke out on July 7th at the Ramses Central in downtown Cairo, caused partial disruptions to fixed broadband and mobile services due to the failure of some interconnection circuits in the building.

On July 9th, Telecom Egypt announced the restoration of the services after operations were transferred to alternative exchanges.
