SCZONE signs 1st Greek industrial investment in Qantara West at $4M

Arab Finance: The General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) signed a contract with Greek company Tzanidakis Miaxah Marinos Co. (Murphy) to establish the Mariniro ready-made garments project in the Qantara West Industrial Zone, as per a statement.

Valued at $4 million, the project will be built on 7,000 square meters and is expected to provide 1,000 direct job opportunities.

Around 70% of the project's production will be directed to export markets.

SCZONE's Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien said the project marks the first Greek industrial investment in the zone, describing it as a foundation for broader cooperation between Egypt and Greece, particularly given their geographic ties in the Mediterranean Basin.

He noted that the variety of investments in Qantara West reflects its transformation into a regional and international hub for textiles and garments, contributing to job creation, industrial localization, and export growth.

With the addition of the Mariniro project, the total number of operational projects in Qantara West has reached 36, covering nearly 2.332 million square meters, with total investments of $993.3 million, Gamal El-Dien added.

These projects span textiles, garments, food industries, and logistics, and collectively provide more than 52,200 direct jobs.
