Trade exchange between Egypt, Switzerland hit $994M in 2022

Arab Finance: The trade exchange between Egypt and Switzerland amounted to $994 million in 2022, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir revealed on February 7th.

Samir’s remarks came during a meeting with Switzerland's Ambassador to Cairo Yvonne Baumann, where they probed ways of enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.

The minister also said that Switzerland is taking part in 433 Egyptian projects with total capital worth $2.2 billion.

Samir pointed out that there are distinguished investment opportunities available to the Swiss business circles in several production sectors, especially in projects related to food security, chemicals, and fertilizers.

During the meeting, the pair reviewed preparations for the visit of Helen Bodleager Artida, Head of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, in early July, to discuss the investment opportunities in the Egyptian market.

The Egyptian minister voiced his country’s aspiration to benefit from the Swiss expertise and its advanced technological industries in the fields of SMEs and green economy projects.

Samir also emphasized the importance of establishing an Egyptian-Swiss business council to support the economic cooperation system between the two countries.

For her part, Baumann affirmed her country's keenness to strengthen the frameworks of joint cooperation with Egypt in various fields
