Arab Finance: Egypt is considering extending the duty-free gold import initiative beyond its deadline on May 10th this year, Asharq Business reported, citing Head of the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) El-Shahat Ghatouri.
Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced last month that Egyptian travelers brought around 4.6 tons of gold into Egypt since May 2023.
In November 2023, the Cabinet ratified extending the period of customs duties exemption on gold imports brought by Egyptian travelers from abroad for another six months to end on May 10th, 2024.
