Badawi, Shell Egypt discuss future cooperation plans

Arab Finance: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Country Chair for Shell Egypt Dalia ElGabry discussed ways to reinforce cooperation and implement Shell International's plans in Egypt over the upcoming period, according to a statement.

These plans cover the exploration, research, and production of natural gas from the company's concessions in the Mediterranean.

In line with its work programs, Shell aims to drill new wells for natural gas development and production in the Mediterranean. This is along with new oil discovery plans.

The two sides also reviewed the company's recent positive results, which contributed to boosting Egypt's natural gas production, following the placing of wells in the 10th and 11th phases of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) in the Mediterranean Sea on the production map.

Badawi and ElGabry also highlighted the ongoing work within the framework of the existing partnership in the Idku liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on the Mediterranean, which is one of Egypt's drivers as a regional hub for exchanging and trading gas. The goal is to maximize the economic benefits for Egypt and its partners from this unique infrastructure.
