Arab Finance: Egypt is considering cooperation with India’s TATA Group in the fields of automotive and petrochemicals, according to a statement by the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) on June 24th.
In their roadshow in Mumbai, the Head of SCZONE Waleid Gamal Eldien and his accompanying delegation met with Shohab Rais, Advisor for New Projects at TATA Chemicals Limited, a subsidiary of TATA Group, to probe cooperation in the fields of petrochemicals, particularly production of soda ash.
Soda ash is a main input for up to 50 industries, including glass and detergents, that Egypt imports no less than 500,000 tons of annually, with an estimated value of $300 million.
Moreover, the Egyptian delegation met with Manish Mishra, Chief Corporate Affairs of Tata Steel, to mull cooperation in the localization of the iron and steel industry as well as the production of necessary inputs of vehicles and railcars.
