Arab Finance: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a meeting to follow up on the latest developments regarding the establishment of the Soda Ash Production Complex project in New Alamein City, according to an official statement issued on July 30th.
During the meeting, Madbouly affirmed the importance of this project in maximizing the added value of Egypt's natural and mining wealth, thus, providing employment opportunities.
For his part, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek Al Molla explained that this project aims to produce soda ash and its derivatives, with a capacity of about 600,000 tons per year.
The complex is set to serve the needs of the local market and assist in the export of its products abroad, El-Molla added.
Moreover, Shaher Reda, CEO of the Egyptian Soda Ash Company, revealed the company’s plan to choose a contractor via launching a tender with the participation of several international companies.
Reda also discussed the arrangements for the required funding for this mega project as well as the position of securing raw materials and the necessary facilities.
He added that there is a plan to link the project site with the high-speed electric railway project.
