Egypt’s public treasury backs special funds’ employees with EGP 2.2B in 9 months

Arab Finance: Egypt’s public treasury has backed the salaries of employees in the state’s special funds and accounts across the governorates with EGP 2.2 billion during the first nine months of fiscal year (FY) 2023/2024, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait stated in a statement.

This amount of support is expected to reach around EGP 3 billion by the end of the current fiscal year, up by 315% from EGP 723 million in FY 2017/2018, Maait pointed out.

Moreover, the country has earmarked EGP 747.9 million to shore up the salaries of employees working in private funds and accounts during the third quarter (Q3) of the current FY, the minister said.

The government had previously endorsed some benefits to improve the conditions of employees at private funds and accounts, he pointed out.

In Q1 FY 2023/2024, the ministry dedicated EGP 761 million to support the special funds and accounts across governorates.
