Cabinet extends stay legalization deadline for illegal foreign residents

Arab Finance: The Egyptian cabinet has agreed to extend the deadline for illegal foreign residents in Egypt to legalize their stay for six months, as per a statement on March 19th.

During the weekly cabinet meeting, a draft decision regulating the temporary exit of equipment and machinery from the country’s free zones was approved.

Companies operating in free zones will be allowed to temporarily move their equipment into Egypt for extendable six-month period to work on free zone-related projects or lease them out.

The cabinet also thumbed up amendments to the executive regulations of the waste management act, aiming to tighten controls over hazardous waste landfills and the country’s waste management system.

Accordingly, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) will establish a unified account to manage financial resources supporting Egypt’s waste management system.
