Egypt keen to enhance cooperation with Iraq in various fields

Arab Finance: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly expressed his country’s keenness to bolster bilateral cooperation with the Iraqi parliament in several fields that serve the interests of the two countries, the cabinet stated on April 2nd.

The premier’s remarks came during a meeting with Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohamed al-Halbousi and his accompanying delegation, in presence of top officials from both sides.

The meeting touched on the ongoing coordination between the concerned authorities of the two countries to hold the joint Egyptian-Iraqi higher committee in Cairo, with the aim of coming out with fruitful results that contributes to advancing bilateral relations.

For his part, al-Halbousi voiced his country’s aspiration to benefit from the Egyptian expertise in numerous sectors, adding that his country is looking forward to strengthening joint cooperation with Egypt in the tripartite project of electrical interconnection with Jordan.

In related news, Egyptian Foreign Affairs Minister Sameh Shoukry met with al-Halbousi, as the former confirmed Egypt's full support for the security and stability of Iraq and its efforts in combating terrorism.

Shoukry also expressed Egypt's interest in meeting Iraqi demands for the participation of Egyptian companies in reconstruction projects in Iraq.
