CBE’s Governor heads AfDB Annual Meetings 2023

Arab Finance: The Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdalla is heading the 2023 annual meetings of the Board of Governors of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), hosted in Sharm El Sheikh from May 22nd to 26th, as per an emailed release on May 25th.

The meetings are being held under the theme of “Mobilizing Private Sector Financing for Climate and Green Growth in Africa”, with the participation of development partners from 81 regional and non-regional member countries of the AfDB, central banks’ governors, finance ministers, senior officials, private sector representatives, and academics.

Egypt has chaired the Board of Governors of the AfDB for a year now, and the new country elected to preside the meetings for a new year will be announced by the end of the current meetings.

Since 1964, Egypt has been a founding member of AfDB, and is also one of its largest regional member country shareholders.
