Egypt releases $32B worth of goods in 5 months

Arab Finance: Imported goods and products worth around $32 billion received customs clearance at various Egyptian ports and outlets in the past five months, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced on July 2nd.

Priority was given to essential goods, food manufacturing components, medications, and production supplies to ensure full capacity production and alleviate the burden on importers through reducing fees and penalties, Maait said.

Moreover, the minister stressed the government’s keenness to secure the state's strategic stockpile of essential goods to meet citizens’ demand.

He also added that the digitalization of the customs system contributes to accelerating the process of customs clearance of goods.
