Arab Finance: Orascom Construction PLC has signed two contracts with the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) to build major transportation projects, according to an emailed press release.
The first contract covers all civil construction for Greater Cairo Metro Line 4 (Package CP402), which will connect to current Lines 1 and 2 and run underground from Giza to Fustat.
This project will be financed in large part by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Under the terms of the second contract, Orascom Construction will head a joint venture to carry out the mechanical, electromechanical, and plumbing (MEP) works for every station, along the first line of the new high-speed rail system in Egypt, which will run from Ain Sokhna to Marsa Matrouh.
Major projects, including high-speed rail, metro, monorail, railway, and light rail transit, spanning more than 3,500 kilometers in Egypt and the Middle East are among the group's past and present undertakings.
