Agiba Petroleum posts 3-year high crude oil output on Eni-backed drilling push

Arab Finance: Agiba Petroleum Company has reported strong gains in oil and natural gas production, supported by intensified drilling and exploration activity carried out in partnership with Italian energy major Eni, as per a statement.

This came as part of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to raise output.

Agiba’s crude oil production reached around 32,000 barrels per day this month, marking the company’s highest production level in the past three years.

The performance reflects the impact of an expanded drilling program focused on new discoveries, the application of advanced technologies, and the use of seismic survey data across the Western Desert.

A key contributor has been the successful development of the Masajid geological formation, where recent discoveries confirmed its petroleum potential.

Production from the latest two wells of these discoveries has reached about 12,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Since production began at the Iris-1XST discovery well in October 2024, cumulative output has totaled around 2 million barrels of oil and 4.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas.

The company has drilled 10 wells as part of its current campaign, including Arcadia 27-ST, Arc 28, Iris 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8, as well as Iris 3-ST, with drilling activity continuing as part of its broader development plans.

Alongside this, Agiba Oil Company has advanced a well development initiative in the Southwest Mellaha concession, where six shallow wells drilled over the past 18 months are producing approximately 2,800 barrels of oil per day.

Development work is also ongoing in the Jasmine concession, supporting the expansion of Agiba’s footprint in the Western Desert.

The recently drilled Jasmine 8-ST well entered production at the end of last November, delivering about 1,000 barrels of oil per day.
