Arab Finance: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly witnessed the signing of the purchase order for nuclear fuel for the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant, according to a statement.
This strategic move anchors Egypt's position in the field of peaceful nuclear energy and accelerates the completion of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project.
The signing ceremony coincides with the installation of the reactor pressure vessel for Unit 1 at the plant, which was overseen by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It also aligns with Egypt's celebration of the fifth annual Nuclear Energy Day, observed on November 19th each year to commemorate the signing of the intergovernmental agreement between Egypt and the Russian Federation for the construction and operation of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.
Madbouly also witnessed the signing of a comprehensive cooperation program agreement with Rosatom Company to drive cooperation in several fields, including the nuclear sector.
Both sides will also team up in other fields that serve the medical industry, such as the production of radioisotopes for cancer treatment. Other areas include 3D printing, which serves the nuclear sector and communications.
The El Dabaa project represents a strategic addition that supports the state’s plans for transformation in the energy sector, thus achieving sustainable development. It also plays a vital role in developing the industry’s infrastructure and boosting the efficiency of Egyptian personnel in the fields of peaceful nuclear technology.
Last July, the two countries inked supplementary deals to advance the El Dabaa nuclear project.
