5 international firms compete for operating Cairo-Alexandria Trade Logistics Development Project

Arab Finance: Five international firms are competing for designing, supplying, and operating mechanical, signaling, communications, and central control systems of the Cairo-Alexandria Trade Logistics Development Project with investments of $400 million, two sources familiar with matter told Asharq Business.

The firms include the French firms Thales Group and Alstom, Germany-based Siemens, and China’s CRRC and CRIG.

The project is owned by the Egyptian National Railways (ENR) which aims to speed up the good transfer process from Alexandria Port to October 6th Dry Port and easing traffic congestion.

The project will be funded via a $400 million loan provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD).
