Arab Finance: The Ministry of Transport has raised the price of Cairo Metro tickets as of January 1^st, Ahram Gate reported.

The ticket for commuting over up to nine stations now costs EGP 6 instead of EGP 5, while the ticket price for trips through up to 16 stations rose to EGP 8 from EGP 7 and the ticket price for trips over up to 23 stations increased from EGP 10 to EGP 12.

A new ticket has been introduced for trips over 23 stations at a cost of EGP 15.

Moreover, the trial operation of the third phase of Cairo Metro’s Line 3 started on January 1^st.

The Egyptian government aims to increase Cairo Metro's revenues by EGP 1 billion to reach EGP 4 billion by the end of 2024, two anonymous sources told Asharq Business.
