Egypt, Greece pen shareholders’ agreement to establish waste management firm

Arab Finance: The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) has inked a shareholders’ agreement with the Greek V Group to establish Antipollution Egypt, a new joint stock firm to provide solid and liquid waste collection service, the Egyptian cabinet stated on March 20th.

The signing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, SCA’s Chairman Osama Rabie, and Consulate General of Greece in Cairo Despoina Chasirtzoglou.

Madbouly said the partnership allows the provision of new logistical services for ships transiting the Suez Canal.

The Egyptian premier added that the solid and liquid waste collection service enhances efforts to localize environmentally friendly industries, as it is a product of the government's strategy to develop the concept of the blue economy.

Meanwhile, Rabie said that the Suez Canal is moving forward towards implementing an ambitious strategy to diversify sources of income and maximize the benefit from its assets and subsidiaries by adding new activities and expanding partnerships with international partners.

For his part, Chairman of V Group Vyron Vasileiadis said that this partnership represents a new era in the history of Greek-Egyptian bilateral relations in a new field related to achieving environmental sustainability.

V Group of Companies operates in the fields of port reception facilities, waste management, renewable energy, technology and financial investments.
