Egypt's Waste Management Regulatory Authority (WMRA) and the Abu Dhabi-based waste management company Tadweer Group inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore and develop cooperation and investment opportunities within Egypt's waste management and recycling sectors.

The UAE-based BEEAH Group is planning to invest AED 500 million in Egypt’s waste management and the environment and sustainability sector.

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and the Egyptian Marine Supply and Contracting Co. have signed a contract for waste management services with Antipollution Egypt.

Recycling and solid waste management are among the important aspects of waste management that can have economic benefits for Egypt. The lack of proper waste management poses serious health and environmental problems for the country and its population. However, with government support and the development of waste management infrastructure, the country can reap the economic benefits of waste management.

Through its partners embodied in Ministry of Military Production, Green Tech Egypt, and Oak Group Holdings, the consortium will build, own and operate the project for a period of 25 years, after which the ownership of the plant will be transferred to Giza Governorate.

The signing ceremony was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, SCA’s Chairman Osama Rabie, and Consulate General of Greece in Cairo Despoina Chasirtzoglou.
