Egypt seals $130M USAID development grant agreements

Arab Finance: Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat has signed eight non-refundable development grant agreements worth $130 million from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) with the US Ambassador to Egypt Herro Mustafa Garg, as per an official statement on June 13th.

The agreements comprise a $13.5 million grant for the Inclusive Economic Governance Agreement, a $35 million grant for the US-Egypt Higher Education Initiative, and a $12 million grant for the second phase of the basic education program.

Additionally, $15 million will be directed toward a program aiming to improve the health conditions of targeted citizens and $14.5 million will be dedicated to the agribusinesses program for rural development.

The grants also include $26.9 million for trade and investment enhancement program, $5.5 million for the climate change program, and $7.5 million for the Integrated Water Solutions Support Program.

For her part, Herro stated, “I am honored to reaffirm the US government’s long-term commitment to creating economic opportunities and improving conditions for all Egyptians.”

“With $130 million funding from the US, we are boosting Egyptian endeavors to achieve healthier, more prosperous life and future for the coming generations,” she added.
