Arab Finance: Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhy laid the foundation stone of Egypt’s first strategic warehouse for food products in Suez governorate, the ministry stated on June 10th.
The strategic warehouse will be established on an area of 10 feddans with an investment worth EGP 1.5 billion, Moselhy said.
He pointed out that strategic warehouses are one of the pillars of the internal trade and food security system, which aims to secure citizens' needs for finished and ready-to-use goods for long periods.
This comes within the framework of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to secure strategic stocks of basic commodities and food products throughout the year.
The strategic warehouse in Suez will be followed by other warehouses in several governorates in the following phases.
All to-be-established warehouses will be built according to the latest technologies to manage commodity storage operations in a manner that guarantees the safety and quality of products.
Ibrahim Ashmawy, Assistant Minister of Supply and Head of the Internal Trade Development Authority (ITDA), revealed that the Suez warehouse would be ready for operations within 18 to 24 months.
