Arab Finance: Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi witnessed the signing of a letter of intent (LoI) between the Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority and Curtin University in Western Australia to enhance the capabilities of mining personnel, according to a statement.
The initiative supports the authority’s strategy to build the skills of its workforce and establish avenues of cooperation that transfer Curtin’s academic and practical expertise to Egypt through specialized training programs.
Under the LoI, both sides will collaborate on developing training programs that address the authority’s needs in areas such as advanced geology, resource estimation, geotechnical integration, mine engineering, economics, and data-driven optimization.
The programs will follow a blended-learning model combining theoretical instruction with practical application, including case studies and industry software tools.
They may be offered fully online or through a mix of online and in-person sessions to increase accessibility.
The agreement also allows Egyptian universities to benefit from aspects of the collaboration.
