Arab Finance: Egypt’s agricultural exports have reached about 8.5 million tons so far this year, marking an increase of nearly 700,000 tons compared to the same period last year, Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced in a statement.
Citrus exports remained in the lead with approximately 2 million tons, followed by fresh potatoes at 1.3 million tons.
Sweet potatoes ranked third with around 310,000 tons, while beans—both fresh and dried—came next with nearly 300,000 tons. Fresh onions followed at 277,000 tons.
The statement also highlighted growth across several other crops, including 191,000 tons of grapes, 148,000 tons of pomegranates, and 117,000 tons of mangoes.
Additional increases were recorded in tomatoes, fresh garlic, fresh strawberries, and guavas.
Farouk said the continued rise in agricultural exports reflects the strength and resilience of the national economy and demonstrates Egypt’s commitment to meeting international quality and food safety standards.
He added that the performance of Egyptian products in global markets reinforces confidence in the country’s agricultural output and contributes to supporting the national economy and attracting foreign currency.
