Arab Finance: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi called for increased Qatari investment in Egypt during talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, as per a statement.
During their meeting, the two sides also reviewed regional tensions and the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
El-Sisi said Egypt was prepared to provide the necessary facilitations for Qatari investments across different sectors, expressing interest in expanding political, trade, and investment ties by building on the outcomes of the Egyptian-Qatari Joint Higher Committee.
The discussions extended to the current regional escalation and its implications for economic activity, trade, and regional stability. El-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s efforts to ease tensions and reiterated Cairo’s support for the security of Qatar and other Arab countries, rejecting any attempt to undermine their sovereignty or stability.
Egypt and Qatar also agreed to maintain coordination over the Gaza ceasefire and broader regional security, as the two sides stressed that all parties must fulfill their commitments under US President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war, paving the way for early recovery and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip.
They also underscored the need to facilitate humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza and reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation in support of the ceasefire.
It is worth mentioning that Qatari Diar launched construction of the first phase of its Alam Al-Roum project on the North Coast in Matrouh governorate.
The development scheme is part of a $29.7 billion master plan, including around $3.5 billion in direct cash investments, with the first phase to be delivered in 2030.
