The Egyptian government plans to increase local wheat purchases by 11% to reach 4 million tons in the upcoming harvest season, which starts in mid-April.

Egypt's cabinet approved a guide price for wheat cultivation for the 2024/2025 season.

Egypt has received a total of 3.551 million tons of local wheat from farmers this season, surpassing the target for this year, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali Moselhy announced.

Egypt has received around 1.8 million tons of wheat from local farmers since the beginning of the current harvest season on April 13th, Assistant to Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ahmed Kamal stated.

Egypt aims to receive between 3.2 and 3.6 million tons of local wheat from farmers during the next harvest season, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Ali El-Moselhy said.

Egypt aims to increase the areas allocated for wheat cultivation by 25% to reach 4 million feddan in the new season.
